YCA students enroll in ongoing 8-week sessions which focus on proper equipment use, basic climbing and safety techniques. For kids who master the basic curriculum, more advanced sessions follow including special classes in climbing technique. For those who have the ability and interest, participation on a junior climbing team is possible. These teams compete within the U.S.A. Climbing Association Circuit.

 

New Climbers start with the basics. This includes proper use of hands and feet and how to shift weight to maintain balance and improve endurance while climbing. All student climbers will learn to master specific "routes" that are placed on a variety of wall features, each with increasing degrees of difficulty.

Groups are kept small, no more than five students per instructor, which allows for individual attention. All necessary equipment is provided by the gym. YCA is a program offered to boys and girls ages 6 - 14.
